From a small fire safety operation to a full facilities partner for 1,000+ businesses.
FIS started as a small fire safety company serving local businesses across Lancashire. A few engineers, a couple of vans, and a simple idea — turn up on time, do the work properly, and treat clients like people not case numbers.
Existing clients kept asking us to recommend a good CCTV and intruder alarm company. After years of pointing them elsewhere, we decided to build the capability ourselves. Facilities Protection was born.
Landlords and facilities managers were juggling EICR engineers, gas safety contractors, and asbestos surveyors as well as fire and security firms. We added Facilities Management — compliance, repairs, and renovations — so they could handle the lot through one contract.
Fire Safety, Facilities Protection and Facilities Management — three divisions under one roof, looked after by qualified engineers with 25+ years of combined experience. The business has grown. The values haven't changed.
We'd rather show you how we work than talk about it — but if you're reading an About page you probably want the words.
Booked for Tuesday at 9? We'll be there by 9. If something changes, you'll hear it from us first — not from a voicemail after we didn't show.
If something's broken, we'll say so. If something isn't broken, we'll say that too. No scary sales talk. No upselling things you don't need.
A fire door inspection is just a fire door inspection — unless it's the one you failed. We don't cut corners on small jobs because we know the small jobs matter.
You'll get fixed prices where we can give them, and transparent day rates where we can't. We agree scope before we start. If scope changes, you'll know before we change it.
Renewal dates, inspection schedules, certificate expiries — we track all of it. You'll get a reminder before anything lapses. Compliance shouldn't be your full-time job.
Friendly people are more productive people. It's in the name. We hire nice humans, we treat each other well, and that tends to show up on your site too.
Here's how we're not like them.
Most firms do one of these three things — fire, or security, or FM. You end up managing three separate contracts, three call-out rates, three different people to chase when things go wrong.
With FIS it's one contract, one account manager, one number to call. Simpler paperwork, better rates.
Lots of firms hide behind a corporate accreditation badge while sending out unqualified engineers. We don't do that.
Every engineer who turns up is individually qualified — FIA, BAFE, ProQual, Gas Safe, or a qualified electrician. We'll happily share their credentials before they visit.
Our engineers live in Lancashire and Manchester. That's not just a claim — it's why we can get to you in 4 hours for an emergency instead of "we'll be there tomorrow".
We're not a national franchise operation pretending to be local. We actually are local.
We don't just carry corporate accreditations. The people doing your work have the right certifications to do it.
